Scope

This standard classifies the environmental conditions of products that are installed on ground vehicles but do not form part of the vehicle. Such products include: communication systems, taximeters, flow meters for vehicles transporting liquids such as milk and petroleum products, etc. The vehicles on which the product is permanently or temporarily installed include: ——Road vehicles: station wagons, commercial vehicles, special vehicles, tractors, trailers, motor vehicles, motorcycles, etc.; ——Rail vehicles: locomotives, trams, cranes, etc.; — - Off-road vehicles: four-wheel drive vehicles, tractors, snowplows, etc.; - Loading, unloading and storage vehicles: forklifts (manual and automatic), luggage carts, etc.; - Self-propelled machinery: excavators, harvesters, etc. Although this standard does not apply to products that form part of a vehicle, the classification of environmental conditions may also apply to interchangeable products that are installed in the same manner in the same part of the vehicle but do not form part of the vehicle. This section covers only harsh conditions that are harmful to the product. Storage and transportation conditions are given in GB/T 4798.1-2005 and GB/T 4798.2-1996. The purpose of this section is to classify the environmental conditions and grade the severity. Products installed on ground vehicles are exposed to the above environmental conditions during use. This standard gives a limited number of environmental condition ratings, but covers a wide range of applications. The lowest level of coverage that should be selected based on the environmental conditions in which the product is used. Appendix A gives usage guidelines.
